“Reading: Why It Matters to Children and Families”

Want to know more about how reading affects children’s brain development? Dr. Navsaria is a pediatrician who incorporates books and reading into his medical practice by “prescribing” books to his young patients. He has been instrumental in expanding the Reach Out and Read program in Wisconsin, which specifically reaches out to children six months through five years of age and children growing up in poverty. Dr. Navsaria is a pediatrician at Madison’s American Family Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine and Public Health who also holds an Masters Degree from the University of Illinois.
